UBD held interfaculty sports meet

In order to bind ties between officers and staffs of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), recently (Wednesday 30 October 2013) an interfaculty sports meet was held at eh UBD Sports Complex. The sports meet was held in conjunction with the UBD Convocational Festival 2013.

The sports meet saw the competition of five groups consists of UBD departments and faculties namely Kaduk, Kemangi, Maman, Pengaga and Ulam Raja. The half day sports meet saw the officers and staffs participating in fun games and traditional sports such as tire rolling, hockey using rugby ball, water carrying and tug of war.

Meanwhile on the last Sunday (27 October 2013, Sunday) similar sports meet for UBD students was also held. The students category sports meet saw they UBD students representing their respective faculties participating in athletics and tug of war event. The students interfaculty category saw the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS) emerged as overall champion.

UBD participate AUG 2012

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) contingent currently represent Brunei Darussalam to the ASEAN Universities Games 2012 (AUG 2012) which was held at Vientiane, Laos. The contingent consists of 11 atheletes and two officers led by Mohd Ali Sabri Bin Hj.Abang, UBD ECA Officer.

 

During the sports meet which was held since last 12 December until the upcoming 20 December, Brunei contingent will participate in 6 events namely badminton, petanque, pencak silat, karate do, ping pong and aquatic sports.

 

According to Mohd Ali Sabri, UBD contingent are well prepared for the AUG 2012 since before their departure they had trained intensively as well as conducting friendly matches. He also hoped that UBD contingent will much better compared to the previou

UBD held Khatam Al-Quran

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through its Student Affairs Section religious and spiritual unit held the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with the Convo Festival 2012 and UBD 24th convocation for its 2012 class. The ceremony was held at the UBD Mosque.

Present as guest of honour to the event was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yussof Bin Haji Ismail, also present was Dr.Hj.Zulkarnain bin Hj.Hanafi, UBD Vice-Chancellor cum Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) , Dr.Hj.Ramlee bin Hj.Tingkong, UBD dean of students as well as other officers and staffs.

The ceremony saw the participation of nearly 300 graduands who already completed their Al-Quran readings with their guide (pembimbing) which had been designated by UBD SAS officers. The ceremony started with the recital of Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by the recital of holy verses from the last juz and takhtim Al-Quran. The guest of honour then present the participants with the token of appreciation and certificates.

Today (Thursday 26 July 2012, Thursday) the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Fresher Week continues again with different activities for the UBD new comers. To start the day the students attend the briefing on admission as well as examination procedures. From the briefing they then proceed with the special Ramadhan edition of the monthly Ulum Ad-Din religious talk.

Present to the talk as well as presenting the talk was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yussof bin Haji Ismail, Deputy Minister of Education. Also present was Dr.Hj.Ramlee bin Hj.Tingkong, UBD Dean of Students, Ustaz Hj.Firdaus bin OKK Hj.Nordin, Ustazah Dk Siti Norainul Fathni binti Pg.Hj.Tajudding, UBD Religious officers as well as UBD staffs and officers and UBD new 2012/2013 students. Among the cntent of the talk is that the deputy minister advised the students not to take for granted the knowledge that they will gain from UBD.

In the afternoon session the fresher week then continues with the faculty orientation where the students were divided according to their respective faculties. During the faculty orientation they are introduced on the insight of their faculties as well as the lecturers from the faculties.

Also during the Fresher Week 2012, PMUBD also selling its merchandise to the new students while UBD FM also having their booth in order to cheer the fresher week.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) last Wednesday started its Fresher Week 2012 for its new students intake 2012/2013. The event saw nearly 900+ students are being chosen to continue their studies at UBD. Present to give opening remark for the new students was UBD Vice-Chancellor Dato Paduka Dr.Hj.Zulkarnain bin Hj.Hanafi.

During the week long fresher week, the students will attend various briefing from UBD sections and departments. Beside a religious talk also will be held as well as the students will then proceed for their module registration at their respective faculties. In relation to this UBD Student Affairs Section would like to congratulate all UBD new students who are chosen to pursue their studies at UBD.

UBD SRC leadership course at OBS

A group of 14 Universiti Brunei Darussalam Student Representative Council (UBD SRC) 2011/2012 session members with two UBD Officers and a student attaché recently held a leadership course at the Outward Bound Sabah (OBS) at Kinarut Sabah. The course was held from 21 until 25 May.

During the week long course the participants are participating in various leadership and self improvement theme activities facilitated by OBS instructors Jhonny and Matilda. Among the challenging activities that they participate was the “night trail”, “Giant Ladder” and the course final phase activity which is camping at jungle for a day and night.

The course concluded with the presentation of certificates from OBS to the participants. The leadership course for UBD SRC is a yearly event held by UBD SRC with support from the UBD Student Affairs Section at selected venues. It is done to test and sharpen their leadership skills as an example to their fellow friends at UBD.

UBD SAS held farewell dinner for UMS visitors

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through its Sutdent Affairs Section (UBD SAS) and UBD Student Representative Council (UBD SRC) recently (23 April 2012, Monday) held a farewell dinner for a group of visitor from the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The event was held at the UBD Multi Purpose Hall.

Present to the event was Dr.Hj.Ramlee bin Hj.Tingkong, UBD Dean of Students, also present was the delegation head Abdul Malik Rizuan Jaafar as well as UMS visitors and UBD students as well.

The UMS three day visit from 21 until 23 April visit with the theme “Media and Community” saw the visitors are brought for visits at media related institutions such as the Information Department, Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) as well as Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) as their hosts. The visitors also took their opportunity of their visit to visit places of interest such as Kampong Ayer.

During the dinner both UBD and UMS are showcasing their traditional performance such as the “hadrah” performance from UBD hadrah club and the traditional dance from the UMS student. The dinner concluded with the exchanging of souvenir between both UBD and UMS and a group photo session.

UBD SAS held Minda Siswa

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through its Career and Caunseling Unit  recently (11 April 2012, Wednesday) held the “Minda Siswa2012”forum. The forum was held at the UBD Student Centre.

 

Present as guest of honour to the event was Dr.Hj.Ramlee bin Hj.Tingkong, UBD Dean of Students, also present was UBD and other higher learning institute officer as well as students from UBD and other various higher learning institutes.

The forum was chaired by Ustaz Hj.Firdaus bin OKK Hj.Nordin, UBD religius and spiritual officer. While the panelists are Awang Hj.An-Muaz bin Jinal@Zainal from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Awang Mohammad Wadood Bin Hj.Seruji from Seri Begawan Religious Teaching College (KUPUSB), Hafizah Binti Yahya from Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) and Nursyazwani bte Bujang from Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB).

FBEPS held Enterprise Day 2012

In order to expose its students to the real business life, Faculty of Business, Economic and Policy Studies (FBEPS) recently (11 April 2012) lauched its Eterprise Day 2012, the event was held at the “Taman Rakis”, UBD.  The two day event is held from 11 until 12 April.

During the enterprise day nearly 12 booths consists of food and services are offered to visitors, This is the third time FBEPS held similar events.

In order to promote the petanque sport to the public, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held a petanque roadshow last 4 April 2012. The one day roadshow was held the UBD Student Centre.

According to the event press statement the roadshow was held not only to promote the newly introduced sport in UBD but at the same time to promote it to interested members of public. The roadshow was divided into two sessions where the roadshow and exhibition was held at the UBD Student Centre from 8:00am-12:00pm, while the petanque demonstration was held at the SHBIE Rocky Carpark at 2:30pm-4:30pm.
