UBD held interfaculty sports meet

In order to bind ties between officers and staffs of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), recently (Wednesday 30 October 2013) an interfaculty sports meet was held at eh UBD Sports Complex. The sports meet was held in conjunction with the UBD Convocational Festival 2013.

The sports meet saw the competition of five groups consists of UBD departments and faculties namely Kaduk, Kemangi, Maman, Pengaga and Ulam Raja. The half day sports meet saw the officers and staffs participating in fun games and traditional sports such as tire rolling, hockey using rugby ball, water carrying and tug of war.

Meanwhile on the last Sunday (27 October 2013, Sunday) similar sports meet for UBD students was also held. The students category sports meet saw they UBD students representing their respective faculties participating in athletics and tug of war event. The students interfaculty category saw the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS) emerged as overall champion.

UBD receive sportswear contribution

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) football team last recently (3 October 2013, Thursday) receive sports wear contribution for its participation on the Deputy Minister of Education 3^rd football cup in conjunction with the 23^rd teachers day celebration.

The contribution consists of jersey, cap and clothing for team supervisors and officer which is contributed by two companies Noh Syazwani Boutique and Tailoring company and Sumayah Enterprise. Present to receive the contribution was Ahmad Faisal bin Haji Zainal Abidin, UBD dean of students.

According to UBD ECA Officer Ali Sabri bin Hj.Abang said “We hoped with the contribution the Higher Institution (IPT) team which comprise of UBD and Brunei Polytechnic will perform well as the previous edition. In the football championship 20 teams will participate under 5 groups and it will started on the upcoming 13 October.”

UBD staff participate Borneo Staffs Friendship Sports

39 academic and non academic staffs from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) currently at Kuching, Sarawak to participate the Borneo Higher Learning Institutes Friendship Sports which was held at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). The sports meet will be held from 3-8 February.

According to the UBD ECA Officer Mohd Ali Sabri bin Haji Abang said “UBD will be participating five our of ten events namely mixed badminton, open male futsal, veteran futsal, dart and bowling. We hoped that the UBD contingent can perform well as they did in the previous edition which was held in Brunei in 2009.”

Among the objectives of the sports meet was to strengthened ties between Borneo Universities staffs as well as it was a platform for the staffs to exchange ideas on sports as well as on academic development. The sports meet was held once every two years at selected Borneo Universities where UBD had been the host of the sport when it was held in Brunei back in 2009.

Meanwhile on Tuesday (5 February 2013, Tuesday) at the UNIMAS Indoor Futsal Arena, Kuching UBD managed to beat their opponents in two categories. In the veteran futsal category UBD manages to beat Kuching Polytechnic 2-0 while in second game UBD manages to defeat IPG Batu Lintang 5-0. With deafeating both team UBD veteran managed itself to the final round.

While in the open futsal category UBD team and Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic manages to share 1-1 score while on the second game UBD manages to defeat Mukah Polytechnic 3-0. UBD also defeated UNISSA team 8-0. Unfortunately UBD was defeated in return by UMS Sabah 1-0.

UBD participate AUG 2012

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) contingent currently represent Brunei Darussalam to the ASEAN Universities Games 2012 (AUG 2012) which was held at Vientiane, Laos. The contingent consists of 11 atheletes and two officers led by Mohd Ali Sabri Bin Hj.Abang, UBD ECA Officer.

 

During the sports meet which was held since last 12 December until the upcoming 20 December, Brunei contingent will participate in 6 events namely badminton, petanque, pencak silat, karate do, ping pong and aquatic sports.

 

According to Mohd Ali Sabri, UBD contingent are well prepared for the AUG 2012 since before their departure they had trained intensively as well as conducting friendly matches. He also hoped that UBD contingent will much better compared to the previou

 

s AUG edition.

UBD SAS officers attends AUG Meeting

Recently two officers from the UBD SAS are attending the ASEAN University Games (AUG) which was held at Lao PDR. The meeting which was held from 4-5 April was attended by Dr.Hj.Ramlee bin Hj.Tingkong, UBD Dean of Students and Mohd Ali Sabri bin Hj.Abang, UBD ECA Officer.

During the meeting UBD delegation along with other ASEAN universities counterparts and Lao PDR officers who is the home secretariat discuss on the venues and sports planed fro the event. Also been discussed is the participation of each universities to the games. An appreciation night was also held for the delegates soon after the meeting ended.

UBD held petanque roadshow

In order to promote the petanque sport to the public, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held a petanque roadshow last 4 April 2012. The one day roadshow was held the UBD Student Centre.

According to the event press statement the roadshow was held not only to promote the newly introduced sport in UBD but at the same time to promote it to interested members of public. The roadshow was divided into two sessions where the roadshow and exhibition was held at the UBD Student Centre from 8:00am-12:00pm, while the petanque demonstration was held at the SHBIE Rocky Carpark at 2:30pm-4:30pm.

UBD defeat UMS Labuan 4-1

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) football team recently (Sunday,  18 December 2011) join a friendly futsal match between the team and the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS)Labuancampus. The match was held at Layang-Layangan Football Field atLabuan. During the match UBD team managed to defeat UMS Labuan team 4-1.

According to the UBD team manager Mohd Ali Sabri bin Haji Abang who is also UBD ECA Officer said “The match was held in order to bind ties between UBD and regional universities. At the same time it is also to prepare the UBD staffs football team for future events such as the Borneo Universities Staffs Games

UBD contingent bags silver and bronze in SUKMAB2

The Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) contingent which represent Brunei to the recently held  second Borneo Universities Games (SUKMAB 2) which was held at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) managed to get silver and bronze medals on the sports which the contingent participate.

According to the UBD contingent manager Mohd Ali Sabri bin Haji Abang who is also ubd eca Officer in a press conference held at the UBD Student Affairs Section building yesterday afternoon (15 November 2011, Tuesday) said “During the games we managed to perform well although some of the team are performing much better than us but we managed to play professionally and in athletic spirit in order to gain medal for the games which we participated”.

 

UBD contingent participate in three sports namely futsal, basketball and pingpong. Where in basketball they managed to get bronze, pingpong they managed to get silver in the female catergory and bronze in the male category. In the furtsal match they also managed to get another bronze. Mohd Ali Sabri also added that the third SUKMAB will be held at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) at Kota Kinabalu,Sabah.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) contingent currently participating the 6th Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM) International Sports Fiesta which are held at Shah Alam, Selangor. The contingent was represnted by UBD Sharks and UBD Futsal team. They will be joining the fiesta from 21 July until 25 July. UBD SAS will held futsal tournament

Universiti Brunei Darussalam Student Affairs Section (UBD SAS) will held first mini Futsal Tournament on the upcoming 1^st and 3^rd July 2011. All matches will be held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Sport Complex multipurpose hall.

According to a Mohd Ali Sabri bin Hj.Abang, UBD ECA Officer who is also the chairperson of the tournament in a press statement held today (20 June 2011)  stated that the matches will be held in 6 groups namely where group A and B will be held on 1^st July from 7pm till 11pm, while group C,D,E,F will play on 3^rd July from 7pm till 11pm.

The Mini futsal tournament participation will be opened to 30 teams where each team consists of 10 players. The teams will be divided to 5 teams in a group. Each group will be charged $60 for entry and registration fee.  The tournament champion, 1^st runner up and 2^nd runner up will receive prize money and trophy.  For inquiry regarding the tournament members of public can contact Mohd Ali Sabri, UBD ECA Officer at 8637511
