16 students who are the students of the weekly Quran reading class of Al-Furqan join the Khatam Al-Quran to mark the completion of their Quran reading. The ceremony was held this morning (2 December 2011, Friday) at the UBD male residential college multi purpose hall.
Present as guest of honour was Awang Metussin bin Haji Bakir, UBD Registrar and Secretary. Also present was officers and staff from UBD Affairs Section as well as parents of the khatam participants.
The ceremony started with the recital of the holy verses by the participants as well as other Al-Furqan class students. The ceremony then concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants and the presentation of token of appreciation from the ceremony chairperson to the guest of honour.
The Al-Furqan weekly Quran recital class is a class under the supervision of UBD Student Affairs Section spiritual and religious unit. The teachers are mostly UBD students while the students are comprises of UBD staffs children as well as villagers from the surrounding Rimba village. The Al-Furqan is also UBD initiative to bind ties with the community.
